Alyssa’s Name on the Wall …

So Thomas and I finished putting up Alyssa’s name on the wall over her bed!!! I’m pretty happy with the way it turned out. We were going to put the name in a catepillar, but my creative genius and will power were not on the same page! Next we get to put together the dresser/changing table! (Thank you Vikki!!)

32 week check up

So it would seem this kid is going to try her darndest to come sooner than April 21st. Had a couple of contractions while I was in the doc’s office today, and they’ve been getting more and more frequent. On top of that he’s going to do a sonogram at my 36 week (March 24th) check up to see how big she is. He says based on my last sonogram (done at 22 weeks) she was measuring about 23 weeks, and if she is growing at a more rapid pace it’s possible she’ll be here around late March early April.

The doctor isn’t concerned about the baby or me; he says every week now she’s that much stronger outside of the womb.

3rd Trimester

So, I’ve officially been in the 3rd trimester now for about 3 weeks. Tomorrow I’ll be 31 weeks along which is just shy of 8 months. It’s hard to believe how close we are now. At 36 weeks Alyssa is viable outside of the womb, which if your counting, is only 5 weeks away!

I had a doctor’s appointment last week, and everyone’s still healthy!! Alyssa’s heartbeat is great, I don’t have high blood pressure, weight issues, or gestational diabetes, and Thomas hasn’t begun anxiety attacks. I think we’re all on the right track so to speak!

The uncomfortable part of the 3rd trimester is hitting me; which is to be expected. The Doctor and I went over how to determine Braxton Hicks (fake/preparation) contractions from the “HOLY COW WE’RE HAVING A BABY” contractions. That was a bit eye opening. Had a few and didn’t even know it until I was describing some tightness and cramping to the doc; to which he grinned and said “Welcome to your 3rd trimester”. The good news is my doctor’s appointments will be every two weeks now until I hit my 36th week at which point they’ll go to weekly. This way as those questions pop into my head there is less of a chance my preggo brain will forget it before I get to the doc. (To all the pregnant ladies out there; paper, and pen are your best friend)

I’m in full on waddle mode; for those men and women that haven’t ever had the pleasure of walking behind an 8 month pregnant woman. It’s pretty much the equivalent of penguin walking; except pregnant women don’t have the luxury of being cute, cuddly, and waddle.

The baby room is almost finished. The only thing left really is to put her name over the bed. Which I should be done with this weekend. Fingers crossed!

25 Weeks (aka 6 mths 1 week)

Well we have roughly four months left, and after the last ultrasound on December 22nd the doc is still sticking with the Girl verdict. Which means Alyssa Campestre will be available for autographs on or around April 21st, 2010.

I can most definitely feel her roaming around inside now days, and Sunday January 3rd was the first day I was able to feel her outside of my belly. She basically kicked the cat off of my belly on Sunday! Can’t say the cat was too pleased, and I was a little on the surprised side!

The next doctor’s appointment is scheduled for January 19th; after that I begin going every two weeks. I’ll also be taking the gestational diabetes test; which basically means I get to drink some wonderful tasting stuff so they can test my system to make sure I’m processing sugar appropriately during the pregnancy.

Ultrasound

So it’s been a little while, and we had an ultrasound at our last appointment. The doc said 80% chance the kid is never going to like me more than Thomas, er I mean 80% chance it’s a girl!!! We were happy to know the baby looks very healthy and active!!!

I’ve been starting to feel the baby more and more which is oh so weird, and good because asgain we know she’s healthy! When I figure out how I will try and put the ultrasound video up on our blog, but until then you can imagine alien face

Also we have another ultrasound on the 22nd of December!

Baby Room

Thomas and I have just about completed the nursery; the only thing that is left is once we know the baby’s gender we’ll be putting a catepillar over the crib with the baby’s name in it. Thanks to Toni and Brad we have a crib, and a lot of other baby necessities!!! I’m posting some pictures; have fun!!! Remember 11/24/09 is when we’ll be finding out the gender. I will be updating the post on 11/25/09 after Thomas and I get to Nashville so stay tuned!

Sick and Pregnant

With all of this Flu, and Swine Flu scare stuff going around it’s really quite crazy that I can’t get in to see my OBGYN when I’m sick. I’m referred to my primary care physician, a primacare place, or better yet an ER. I understand the logic behind not wanting sick people in a doctor’s office full of pregnant women, but it sure is frustrating. The good thing is I was able to seemingly beat this thing with out any real need from my health care providers.

15-week check up

Another doctor’s visit come and gone. Everything went well; got to hear the heartbeat again, and the doctor said it was healthy. So that’s good news. For the first time in a very long time I heard a doctor say ” … and your weight looks good”. Thought that was nice of a doctor to lie to pregnant and emotionally unstable woman!

Some exciting news is our next doctor’s appointment on 11/24/2009 will be the ultrasound. We’ll get to look at the little guy/girl and see if it’s a guy or a girl! We’ll also be able to burn a DVD of the whole thing so that will be pretty cool. So anyone that visits the house in the next … 18 years or so will have to watch our baby bounce around in my uterus!

2nd Trimester

Due to popular demand, and a rather squeaky wheel (baby daddy) I am posting to announce that as of Wednesday 10/21/2009 we are officially in our 2nd trimester. This is both awesome and difficult.

Awesome because we’re 1/3 of the way there, majority of miscarriages happen in the first trimester, morning sickness is over, I’m getting my energy back, and I should start to show soon so I can blame being fat on the baby! (the kid isn’t even born yet, and I’m already looking for ways to blame them for my short comings… this is going to be great!!!)

Difficult because I still have 2/3 of the journey left (no glass half full for me!), the erratic emotions are starting, I’ve been cursed with incurable pregnancy headaches, my clothes are starting to get a little tighter than I would like, and the kiddo will begin to move to where I can feel it. Yes, it completely creeps me out that I’m going to be acting out the scene from Alien right before that thing pops out of his belly starting sometime in the fifth month until the end of the pregnancy. I’ll be happy that the kiddo is healthy and active, but not so happy that I’ll be able to feel it and see it.

10 week checkup

Last Wednesday I went in for my monthly check up and I was exactly 10 weeks along. The doctor did a audible ultrasound on my belly, and was hoping to hear the heart beat. (Sorry no pictures!) He said that it is still early, but he wanted to try. Just before he gave up; HE FOUND THE HEART BEAT!!!! It was very exciting. The doctor said that this an extremely good sign, and that the heartbeat was strong and exactly as it should be.

I also took an over the counter test that is supposed to be able to tell the baby’s gender at 10 weeks, and it said I’m having a girl! I guess we’ll just have to wait and see what the ultrasound says closer to Thanskgiving.
